FLYING MACHINES

Meeting point and musical project from two passionate music lovers,
diggers and djs: NATIVE (space is the place) and TwICE (Black Aroma, Blend it!),
both part of the eclectic Sounds Familiar crew. Rainy afternoons and
warm evenings, bottles of wine, a few friends and a pile of records that
apparently should never be put side by side on a dance floor: this is what
lies behind their dj sets and what inspired the FLYING MACHINES project.
The desire to create a unique musical wave, born and bred through the pure
emotion that each record evokes, is what drives their research: who listens
to their dj sets understands...feels that the first people to be transported by
the wave are the ones playing...the sound alternates from reggae to funk,
can change from a classic krautrock track to a house promo, can go down
with the obscurest hip hop and back up with a psychedelic rock tune.....
disco is part of their journey but it's not the usual disco, it can go from
acid to balearic and still make sense. The release of a picture vinyl in
limited edition amalgamates and consolidates the FLYING MACHINES project,
where the two enjoy deep musical research to find the sound that defines them.
Exciting with the discovery of forgotten tracks, reliving emotion as soon as the
needle touches down, it’s emotion sweated out over the turntables, energy
sent to the hearts of the people listening.....this, is FLYING MACHINES.

It's space,
It's vinyl.
It's artwork.
It's real.

MOVE D [Compost Records]

If talent converted into record sales, David Moufang would be a very rich man. His records with partner Jonas Grossmann as Deep Space Network and his own solo releases as Move D are among the furthest outreaches of techno's push towards the stars. Moufang grew up in Heidelberg listening to his parents' collection of early Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk records but the most overwhelming influence on his childhood was outer space, the result of a trip to the cinema with his father to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. "I was space crazy as a child," Moufang told journalist Tony Marcus in 1995, "when the other kids were riding around in their little cars I'd be building my own spacecraft. I'd put in a small engine, put rubber on the wheels so it made some noise and stand there with a walkie-talkie and my headphones on. It was very techno..."
